Jean-Baptiste Sécheret (born in 1957)

The work of Jean-Baptiste Sécheret makes a large place for the landscape. His compositions tightened on the motif give it a strong and monumental presence. His treatment of color and light are inseparable. The artist favors the contrasting twilight lights that evoke Edward Hopper and the silent squares of Chirico. The Académie des Beaux-Arts saluted his work in printmaking in 2013 by awarding him the Mario Avati prize for the first time.
