The Gallery
Galerie de l'Institut, formerly Bouquinerie de l'Institut, is a family-run business, specializing since 1954 in prints by prestigious artists, including Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Joan Miró and Henri Matisse, and in modernillustrated books. Galerie de L' Institut has expanded its activities to include the sale ofone-off works, and also caters to a clientele of collectors of ceramics, drawings, paintings and sculptures.
Located in the heart of Saint-Germain des Prés, a major center for art and literature, La Galerie de l'Institut has been internationally renowned for many years.
Our history
The story began in 1954 with Editions A.C. Mazo, publisher of lithographs by Marc Chagall and Bernard Buffet, among others. In 1969, the company was renamed Bouquinerie de l'Institut, and Yves Lebouc took over its management in the 1970s. The Galerie, then located at 3 quai Malaquais, took a more commercial direction, buying and selling prints (lithographs, etchings, black manners, monotypes, linocuts, woodcuts, etc.), illustrated books (artists' books) and important art magazines (Derrière le Miroir, Verve, Minotaure, Cahiers d'Art, etc.). In 1983, the Bouquinerie de l'Institut moved to 12 rue de Seine.
Yves Lebouc, accompanied by his two children, Marc and Anne-Gaëlle, developed the business and created the Quédillart S. A group. A in 2007, bringing together La Librairie les Arcades, formerly located at 8 rue de Castiglione, not far from Place Vendôme, La Galerie de la Bouquinerie at 3bis rue des Beaux-Arts, dedicated to exhibitions, Arenthon, at 3 quai Malaquais and finally La Galerie de l'Institut(Art Gallery in Paris) (formerly Bouquinerie de l'Institut) at 12 rue de Seine.
A family business
In 2021, Marc Lebouc, now President of Groupe Quédillart S.A., made the important decision to rename the Bouquinerie de l'Institut and Galerie de la Bouquinerie banners to Galerie de l'Institutt.
Located at 3 bis rue des Beaux-Arts, Marc Lebouc welcomes visitors by appointment, and is keen to present paintings and key works by the great artists of the 20th century to privileged customers.
Anne-Gaëlle Lebouc, director of the Galerie du 12 rue de Seine, and Yves Lebouc, welcomelovers of prints, artists' books and 20th-century art in general. The Galerie, with its wealth of prints by great figures in modern art such as Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Georges Braque and Bernard Buffet, is a must for the informed and the simply curious.
Galerie Arenthon, located at 3, quai Malaquais, continues its mission of offering highly accessible prints, illustrated books and artists' posters to a varied public of visitors.
With more than fifty years of experience behind it, La Galerie de l'Institut is proud to be able to attract both novice and experienced art lovers to its three complementary addresses, located just a few steps from each other, so that drawings, paintings and lithographs can find their way back to the walls of a private collector, someone who has simply fallen in love, or to the picture rails of a passionate dealer like ourselves.
