The Galerie de l'Institut is delighted to present in all three of its rooms a previously unseen collection of photographs taken by Jacqueline Picasso, the great artist's last wife.

Jacqueline's eye invites us into the intimacy of family and friends, close to the creator and his work, in the simplicity of everyday life.

If the friends Lucien Clergue or David Douglas Duncan have also testified to the artist's daily life, Jacqueline's photographs are of a different register, for her gaze is that of the muse and the wife. Stripped of aesthetic considerations related to the art of photography, Jacqueline's prints are charged with a raw intimacy and highlight the solar magnetism of the artist, in her moments of work as well as relaxation. Aged over seventy in most of the pictures, we discover him working, dancing and dressing up, under Jacqueline's vibrant gaze.

Not only fascinating reflections of Picasso's aura, the photographs presented by the Galerie de l'Institut give a glimpse of the artist's entourage. From his famous friends to his children, from his goat to his dogs, Jacqueline's eye reveals the hustle and bustle that surrounded Picasso. This series of photographs testifies to the almost unchanging vitality of the Picasso myth, as well as to Picasso himself.
