Billancourt désespéré (gris)

Jean-Baptiste Sécheret

2004

Monotype on copper, enhanced

Annotated in white at the bottom center "Billancourt", signed by the artist in white at the bottom right

Despite the use of white and blue, everything in this monotype takes on a gray hue, due to the black paper used as a support. The train gives the impression of emerging from the night, without fully succeeding. Jean-Baptiste Sécheret is very sensitive to the light in the landscapes he paints, so he uses a variety of hues to convey their vibrations (Cf Billancourt désespéré).
