This immense flower, in shades of indigo and cyan blue tending towards black, defies the limits of plastic genres. The worked, scraped, impastoed paper is perhaps more sculpture than painting. But in the end, this ambiguity matters little, for the power of the work lies in both the materiality and the intense colors of this flower.
