Galerie de l’Institut, formerly Bouquinerie de l’Institut, has been specializing in prints by prestigious artists since 1954, and has built up a long-standing reputation in the print market, both in France and abroad. Marc and Yves Lebouc’s keen eye, research and meticulous study of subjects over many years have earned them recognition as experts in their field, enabling them to rule on the value and authenticity of a print. Marc Lebouc is an expert before the Paris Court of Appeal, and Yves Lebouc is a member of the Compagnie Nationale des Experts.
Marc and Yves Lebouc are not just private buyers, but also colleagues from all over the world who, like us, are players in the art market, uncompromising about the quality of the works offered to the public and concerned about their ethics.
Backed by the presence of these two experts, the Galerie de l’Institut offers its customers certificates of authenticity for works purchased at the gallery, on request. Marc and Yves Lebouc are also authorized to issue certificates of authenticity for prints (etchings, lithographs, illustrated books) by Marc Chagall (see conditions of expertise below).
Expertise Chagall
Marc et Yves Lebouc sont mandatés par le Comité Marc Chagall pour expertiser les œuvres graphiques de l’artiste. Plus de 1.000 références composent le Catalogue raisonné des lithographies, à cela s’ajoutent plus d’une centaine de livres illustrés, ainsi que des gravures.
La Galerie de l’Institut est la seule autorité reconnue par le Comité Marc Chagall pour authentifier les estampes de l’artiste. Une copie des certificats et des attestations est systématiquement déposée pour enregistrement auprès du Comité Marc Chagall.
Expertise Picasso
Marc et Yves Lebouc établissent les certificats d’authenticité des estampes de Pablo Picasso. Sont concernées plus de 2.000 gravures référencées pour les œuvres graphiques et 156 livres illustrés.
Les experts s’appuient sur l’ensemble de la littérature formant les catalogues raisonnés, mais surtout sur leur grande expérience technique et un nombre important d’œuvres étudiées.
Extrêmement minutieux dans l’analyse des gravures, lithographies, linogravures qui leur sont présentées, Marc et Yves Lebouc s’attachent avec rigueur à faire en sorte qu’une estampe non conforme (par sa signature, par falsification du tirage original) soit répertoriée comme telle.
Expertise conditions
Works submitted for appraisal must be presented in person to the experts, who will examine and verify them and then give their opinion. A certificate of authenticity or attestation is invoiced at €250 excluding VAT. In the case of works sold by the Galerie, certificates are given to the purchaser free of charge on request.
