Born in 1935, Jean-Pierre Cassigneul has developed a deeply personal figurative body of work, instantly recognisable for its distinctive style. His portraits of women are one of its central themes, celebrating femininity, beauty, elegance and grace.
His women, instantly recognisable by their tall, slender silhouettes, are depicted in Parisian gardens – the Jardin du Luxembourg and Bagatelle – by the sea in Deauville, or along the shores of Lake Geneva. They seem to inhabit a shared world, at once familiar and timeless.
On the occasion of Paris Gallery Week, Galerie de l’Institut is delighted to present a new exhibition dedicated to the work of Jean-Pierre Cassigneul. Bringing together oil paintings and drawings, the exhibition celebrates the artist’s iconic female figures.
