"He likes to quote Ingres: "Resemblance is the least of things". He learned this at the age of twenty at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. He makes a point of mastering it. It's the humble, formidable objects - all objects are formidable - that he reproduces, by every means possible, in his studio: funnels, marbled cones from the South Seas, cut-off fish heads".
