Nomades au cheval étique

Georges Rouault

1910

Monotype

38,2 x 57,5 cm

Monogrammed and dated in the plate at the bottom left and signed and dated by the artist at the bottom right

Nomades au cheval étique is a rare example of Rouault's limited, early experimentation with the monotype technique. He later turned more to etching and lithography. The colors, in their shades and flat tints of blue and red, form a picturesque scene that evokes a peaceful, harmonious reality for the viewer.
