Nature morte au guéridon illustrates the concomitance in the same work of the two aesthetics developed by Picasso from 1914 onwards. The still life is depicted vertically, in a post-Cubist language of decomposition and interweaving of forms, while the rest of the composition reflects the classicist orientation of his writing.
