Picasso, Pablo, Jacqueline, 1959
Jacqueline is a portrait of Jacqueline Roque, Picasso‘s last wife and muse. They met in late 1953 at the Madoura studio in Vallauris. Jacqueline was a cousin of Suzanne Ramié. Jacqueline and Picasso married on March 2, 1961. Picasso’s “realistic” depiction of Jacqueline contrasts with that of Femme accoudée, also drawn in black on a blue background.
