Picasso, Pablo, Femme accoudée, 1959

Jacqueline, a woman leaning back, is exceptional in the assurance, precision and purity of her lines. Here, Jacqueline is curvaceous and monumental. The lines of the hands and forearms, the shoulders, the hair and the back of the chair (unless it’s that of the rocking chair) respond to each other and structure the whole.
