Matisse, Henri, Album Jazz, Plate XI, 1947

Based on the circus theme, Les Codomas evokes famous trapeze artists of the early 20th century. The composition is divided between geometric and organic forms. As in all the “chromatic and rhythmic improvisations” that Matisse calls jazz plates, the color is dazzling.
