Vignettes Lorgnettes is a new printing of J. Dubuffet's Ler dla Canpane. The calligraphic text and seven original engravings are republished, enriched by seventeen others. In phonetic transcription, the writings are not easy to understand, but they allow us to rediscover the liveliness and immediacy of the language. The black-and-white engravings are densely hatched, with abstract shapes superimposed on figures and silhouettes. In keeping with the rejection of cultural values that characterizes the artist's work, this book is the exact opposite of illustrated books.
