Chagall, Marc, Large Fruit Basket, 1975
This original large-format lithograph depicts a picnic scene, with a fruit basket enthroned in the middle of a tablecloth. It is filled with a variety of fruits: grapes, bananas, oranges and apples. This symbol is close to the ancient cornucopia and celebrates opulence, as Marc Chagall is known for his joyful, dreamlike depictions of love and life.
