L'Église et la Baie (technique mixte)

Although Bernard Buffet spent most of his time in Paris, he drew his inspiration from the sunny landscapes and unique atmosphere of Saint-Tropez. The Buffet family, led by Annabel, vacationed in an apartment high above the town. This location offers a bird's-eye view that Bernard Buffet never fails to capture. This work is an enhanced model for the lithograph L' Église et la baie(The Church and the Bay), a black lithograph proof enhanced with mixed media (pencil, watercolor, gouache and India ink). The colors are brighter than on the original lithograph, the roofs redder, the blue deeper and the green shinier.
