This preparatory lithographic model presents a new perspective of the Chapelle de la Miséricorde, the former chapel of the Confrérie des Penitents Noirs, dating from the mid-17th century and located in the town center, in the former district of the great sailing families. Its bell tower, with its glazed tile dome, is a remarkable architectural feature.
The image is enlivened by the use of purple on the left-hand side of the composition, featuring a flowery wall, as well as light green for the shutters and luminous yellow on the right. Bernard Buffet’s signature and the year of production “78” (for 1978) blend into the black lines of the work.
