Olivier O. Olivier, The Return of the Prodigal Elephant, fine, 1998

All that remains of the elephant are its bones, displayed in the middle of the Natural History Museum. Visitors observe the animal’s skeleton and, more mournfully, the human bones that are the pachyderm’s four legs. Yet Olivier O. Olivier depicts this macabre spectacle with his characteristic lightness and humor, and infects the viewer.
