Miró, Joan, Mourlot Centenaire, 1953

This color lithograph was produced by Joan Miro to mark the centenary of Imprimerie Mourlot. This lithographic printer worked with many artists (Matisse, Braque, Chagall), guiding them in the creation of their works.

Miro painted dreamlike themes, often populated by birds, stars or comets, as in this lithograph. At top right, a blood-red sun shines against a blue sky, while rockets, figures and birds appear to be dancing.
