Miró, Joan, The Dandy, 1969

An extraordinary figure, Le Dandy is one of the engravings that enabled Joan Miro to “give more substance and power” (1) to his art.

The beautifully textured dark figure stands out against an orange background with brown hues. Vivid colors – pink, blue, green and yellow – float around the main subject, softening the contrast between the dense black of the carborundum and its surroundings.
