Bernard Buffet’s works often include scenes of coastal villages and landscapes with azure glimpses. In this black watercolor print, Bernard Buffet takes up the Tropezian landscape, but in duller tones. In the foreground, the vegetation invites us to discover a picturesque Mediterranean landscape. At the top, the sky, tarnished by these strokes, turns blue-gray, while the stylized mountains support the austerity that emanates from the work and is echoed on a turbulent sea carrying a few sailing boats on its waves.

Bernard Buffet (1928-1999)
Bernard Buffet élabore une œuvre figurative expressionniste dans cette période de l’après-guerre dominée par l’abstraction. Il met en place une esthétique éminemment graphique caractérisée par des lignées noires très appuyées et un dessin anguleux. Le réseau de hachures, également présent sur les fonds de ses compositions, assure le rôle plastique de lien entre les différents éléments de l’image.
