Sécheret, Jean-Baptiste, Central Park, mist, 2008

This vantage point, overlooking Central Park, highlights New York’s characteristic geometric shapes, and the work reflects the architecture professor’s view of the city. The two imposing towers create both a contrast and a link with the streets bordering the park. Contrast through the difference in scale and plan, link through the similarity of the rectangular shapes. The mist creates movement in the composition as it tends to cover everything, right up to the viewer.
