Chagall produced two versions of this original lithograph, in different colors: one predominantly red, the other blue presented here. The blue version was also printed in small format as a poster for the 1969/70 retrospective of Marc Chagall's work at the Grand Palais in Paris. A clown is depicted full-length in the foreground, with a view of Parisian monuments behind him: the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame-de-Paris. An assembly of spectators floats in the sky.
